MAN7129 Assessment Brief
| You will be placed in a group by your instructor, with each group consisting of three students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Your task is to create a report that compares the varying roles, skills, and decision-making processes of managers in two different countries, using both primary and secondary research. This project will allow you to explore how competencies differ across cultures and how these differences contribute to competitive advantages for organisations.
You will conduct online interviews with managers using MS Teams to gain insight into their responsibilities and the skills required for their roles. Additionally, you will analyse the differences in managers’ decision- making processes, including their strategies for motivating employees, and connect your findings to the cultural dimensions covered in the course material. |

| Assessment Task: | Group Coursework, 100% | ||
| Assessment Title: | Group Coursework (3,500 Words excluding appendices, table of contents and references) | ||
| Things to include: | 1. The interviews MUST be online only through MS Teams. You are not allowed to have WhatsApp or any social media contact which requires a mobile phone number unless you already have the interviewees’ contact numbers on your phone.
2. The structure of your Assessment includes the introduction, main body and conclusion. In the introduction section, you should introduce the countries and the four managers you have chosen for interviews. In the main body section, discuss your interview data by critically reviewing recent literature relating to leadership and management behaviour and decision-making of four managers for the chosen two countries (two managers for each country) and compare their cultural differences in leading and managing organisations. In this section, |
||
| you should apply different cultural models to justify the leadership behaviour of a country. Please consider that this section is NOT about introducing and discussing leadership styles such as Charismatic, Transformational, Paternalistic, etc. In the conclusion section, as an organisation’s manager, provide recommendations to those four managers on how they can improve their negotiation skills and how they can resolve conflicts by considering cultural differences. You can also relate this section to your own experience of leading and managing a team and being led and managed by other team members. Include in your discussion any cross-cultural issues which arose and how they were dealt with.
3. Transcripts of the interviews conducted with any documents relating to the creation of your report, for example, the interview questionnaire used, etc, must be presented in the appendices. You will lose marks if this is not done. 4. Consent forms and participant information sheets must be completed and signed before starting your data collection and should be added in the appendices. 5. All the team members must agree on the final draft before submitting it. 6. Read the Assignment supporting file for more information. |
