Assessment Instructions:
1. Please familiarise yourself with the EIT Academic Honesty and Misconduct Policy, in order to
understand your requirements and responsibilities as a student of EIT.
2. Please refer to our Assessment, Moderation and Student Progress Procedure for
information relating to extensions. Extension requests should be submitted to your LSO at
least 3 days prior to the due date.
3. Assessments submitted via email will not be accepted.
4. Assessments must be submitted through Turn-it-in (unless otherwise stated).
Your submission must:
a. Be a single document (Word or PDF only)
b. Include at least 20 words of machine-readable text, and
c. Not exceed 10MB.
5. You must use the provided assessment cover page available on your Moodle student
homepage. Submissions without a cover page will not be accepted.
6. You must correctly title your document/s. For example:
UNIT#_ASSESSMENT#_YOURNAME_DATE
E.g. ME501_Assessment2_SteveMackay_01Aug2019
7. You must reference all content used from other sources including course materials, slides,
diagrams, etc. Do not directly copy and paste from course materials or any other resources.
Refer to the referencing section of the EIT eLibrary on Moodle for referencing guides.
8. It is your responsibility to check that you have submitted the correct file, as revised
submissions are not permitted after the due date and time.

You are a leader of a team in a higher education institute. A common problem your institute as
other similar institutes face is the lack of interactivity between students and lecturers during online
lectures. The objective is to have students participating during the lecture by asking and answering
questions. You are tasked by senior management to find a solution to this problem.
Question 1: (5 marks)
Provide a mind map of the problem to find the root causes.
Question 2: (5 marks)
Provide a mind map of the possible solutions to the problem.
Question 3: (6 marks)
Propose three (3) Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that are suitable for this problem.
Question 4: (6 marks)
Suppose that you obtained management support to launch a project to solve this problem. The
project involves developing technical and non-technical solutions including the use of software that
analyses and counts interactions during a lecture. Propose a list of deliverables for each phase of

the project (conception, definition, execution, and operation). One deliverable per phase is
sufficient.
Question 5: (6 marks)
In your team there are four members. “A” is very skilled at the required job and extremely
motivated. “B” is also skilled but not sufficiently motivated and interested. “C” is a young recruit
with potential and motivation but lacks the required skills. “D” does not have the skills and does not
seem motivated. Propose one leadership style suitable for each team member and justify your
choice.
Question 6: (7 marks)
You have to write a convincing email explaining the results of the project, i.e. the solution to the
problem. Write two versions of the email, one to present the solution to students and one to
present the solution to lecturers. Comment on your communication style in both versions of the
email.
