Scenario: Three undercover police officers were conducting a decoy operation. One officer, David, would dress in an Old Marine Corps jacket, sit in the middle of the sidewalk, and prominently display a $100 bill hanging out of the left breast pocket of his jacket.
The two other undercover officers were nearby to watch the action.
A local man, Oliver, was walking down the sidewalk. Oliver stopped and leaned over to help David because he thought he was homeless and did not want to see him get hurt or be arrested. David did not move and remained sitting in the middle of the sidewalk. Oliver tried one more time to help David, but David still did not move.
Oliver finally backed off and that is when he spotted the $100 bill hanging from David’s pocket. He grabbed the $100 bill, said “Thanks pal!” and started to walk away.
David signaled the other uncover officers and the undercover officers arrested Oliver.
