The Dead Man Walking Movie Review

The central aspect of this movie is punishment. The main character is accused of murder and is taken to prison. The film shows the life of the suspect and his sister before and after he is resisted. Despite his character, the sister shows him love and affection.

The main character also shows respect to his sister when she visited him in prison. Love is also shown by other leading actors who accompanied the main character. The criminal part of the movie shows the main character murdering landing in the hands of the police.

The movie shows the families of the victims who were murdered.  The movie depicts their response to the punishment that the suspect should go through. The families of the victims wanted the criminal to be punished for murder. In those days, the justice system was the primary way through which someone would be punished.

The movie shows how the families of the victims are devastated by the loss of their loved ones. Even though they could not punish the offender directly, they supported his detention.

When Robin was arrested, the execution was carried to criminals found guilty for committing offenses such as murder. The legal system tried to promote justice by executing those who had ended the lives of others. However, such punishment is not welcomed or accepted by many human right organizations.

Even though someone may have committed such a crime, they have a right to life and the right to other forms of punishment. The main question in this movie is whether punishment can amend someone’s character. Despite the fact that the main character was on a death row, he could be allowed to meet his sister.

Life in prison was challenging since the main character had never been to such a confined place before. The movies show how life the main character experienced life in prison; he was visited by a friend who encouraged him to have hope despite the situation. Notably, the movie tries to depict the aspect of life in different circumstances.

The presence at the prison and the life of the families that lost their loved ones show the various instances of life where one can experience sudden changes. The families did not expect to lose their loved ones; however, such instances may happen to anyone in life. Robin experienced guilt, where he knew he thought about what he had done.

Robin knew that he had done the wrong thing even though he could not change the situation. In amidst of guilt and regrets, his sister encouraged him to remain stable. The disappointments associated with the reduced freedoms in prison, being chained was and considered a dangerous person was challenging.

Subjecting criminals into imprisonment is the central crime control policy that is portrayed in the movies, ‘Dead Man Walking.’ In regards to punishment, the movie goes to an end of allowing the execution of offenders—crime control policies aimed at reducing the number of criminal cases in a given place or country.

The judicial system has the authority to implement laws and regulations that ensure that illegal activities are reduced. Such laws are capable of reducing criminal activities as well as ending the lives of offenders.

Punishment can also instill fear to other people who may think of committing an offense. Since some of the policies may not be accepted by society, the justice system should ensure that the form of punishment is not inhuman.

One of the insights from the movie is that punishment is not only the primary method to reduce criminal activities. The offenders need some counseling other than a sentence. Some of them also need rehabilitation due to the state of their mind as well as their previous experiences.

The movie encourages the legal systems to ensure that the policies and laws set for crime control should not be against human rights. Mainly, execution should not be encouraged in courts.

One of the strengths of punishment is causing fear to the offenders and others who would think of committing such a crime—however, some disciplines such as execution abuse human rights. Another strength of punishment is that many people would tend to change their behaviors after prison.

The methods of punishment that prisoners are subjected to tend to discipline them. In respect to execution, some innocent people can be killed where the investigations are not done extensively (Hien & Joerges, 2018). The leading role of this movie is to show the importance of the justice system in reducing criminal activities. Additionally, the movie also shows that love can be expressed regardless of the situation one is undergoing.
